Biography

Bassoonist Marisol Taub has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe, appearing in such venues as Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier of Place des Arts in Montreal, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, and Snape Proms in Aldeburgh, England. She performed with the Montreal Symphony under maestro Kent Nagano for the presentation of Arnold Schoenberg’s Gurre-Lieder. During the summer of 2006 she participated in the first European tour of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, presenting concerts in Belgium, Italy, France, Germany, and England. With the Youth Orchestra of the Americas she performed Verdi’s Requiem under the direction of Placido Domingo to a sold-out audience in Munich. From January 2007-January 2008, Ms. Taub served as Co-Principal Bassoonist of the Orquesta Sinfonia de Yucatain Marida, Yucatan, Mexico. Marisol Taub is a native of Columbia, Missouri, born to a Chilean mother and an American father. Her principal teachers include Mark Romatz, John Hunt, and Felicia Foland. She has participated in several music festivals including the Banff Centre, Youth Orchestra of the Americas, Colorado College Summer Music Festival, Manchester Music Festival, Brevard Music Center, and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Ms. Taub is currently completing her Master’s Degree in Bassoon and Orchestral Training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In 2006 she received a Bachelor’s Degree and Arts Leadership Diploma from the Eastman School of Music.
